An ESG gap analysis for Australian Vanadium Limited's bankable feasibility study.

Vanadium's role in the energy transition

How can responsible vanadium production play a key role in strengthening society’s ability to curb global emissions?

Vanadium is important for the energy transition because it’s used in more efficient steel production. And more importantly, energy storage development. If used to produce the batteries we need to stabilize our grids, we will boost energy reliability during times when the sun doesn’t shine or the wind won’t blow.

Australian Vanadium Limited (AVL) is a Perth-based company developing the Australian Vanadium Project in Western Australia.

AVL is making moves to ensure its projects will be developed responsibly. They wanted an advisor to help them identify any gaps in their environment, social, and governance (ESG) planning and implementation.

That’s where we come in.

Paving the way for sustainable vanadium development

Strong ESG performance is high on the agenda for AVL’s stakeholders, communities and investors. This includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conducting ethical and good governance business practices, and operating with social and environmental responsibility.

AVL currently has a strong focus on ESG, including a green hydrogen strategy for emissions reduction and a renewable energy focused subsidiary, VSUN Energy. They also actively engage with communities near planned operations.

As part of AVL’s bankable feasibility study, Advisian will undertake an ESG gap analysis. This is an important first step towards developing an ESG strategy.

The results of the gap analysis will inform the development of a detailed ESG roadmap, guiding AVL on how to operate in a sustainable and ethical manner when its Australian Vanadium Project moves into production.

“Responsible vanadium production is an integral part of the energy transition. We support AVL’s commitment towards ethical and sustainable project development. This is another step on our journey to work with our clients to deliver a more sustainable world.”

Steven Whittall
Global Vice President, Environment & Water
