Delivering a better passenger experience

The situation

Wellington International Airport - the airport servicing New Zealand’s capital city - is experiencing steady growth in passenger numbers. To facilitate this growth and improve the passenger experience, the main terminal had to be extended and upgraded, while normal operations were maintained.

Approach

To help the upgrade to run smoothly, we embedded an experienced construction manager into the airport’s management team.

Their role was to coordinate a multitude of internal and external stakeholders to:

  • Obtain design approvals

  • Plan and communicate the project milestones

  • Manage transitions and ensure operational continuity

  • Complete hand-overs to operational and facilities maintenance teams

Results

The upgrade work was delivered to plan and all stakeholders’ needs were met.
