We acted as the owner’s engineer/consultant for a refinery restart of a highly complex site. Our involvement spanned early concept development through detailed engineering.
Our experts were involved from the start. We guided key decision makers, suggested and implemented multiple cost saving ideas, and developed a plan to reposition the refinery for future market opportunities. This included supporting key detailed engineering and procurement efforts, supporting permitting strategy and process, and guiding and directing licensor activities. We developed multiple business case justifications (cost benefit analyses) to support key project decision making.
The restart was a success. Our experts helped reset the strategy to focus on repositioning the refinery to exploit upcoming opportunities. We developed and modeled configuration concepts to achieve maximum returns by only starting up a portion of the kit. We implemented multiple cost savings ideas that reduced overall costs by over $100M. In addition, we helped negotiate lower costs with licensors (reducing overall costs by $5M).
