Asset Advisory services for Napier City Council

Condition assessment and advice on managing inner harbour assets

The Challenge

Napier City Council own 23 different assets in the Inner Harbour at Ahuriri. To effectively manage these assets – and in order to maintain and replace them in a planned way – NCC required a detailed assessment of the condition of the pier, wharves, pontoons, revetments and jetties.

Our Approach

Using the established Ports Australia Wharf Structures Condition Assessment Manual, Advisian marine engineers performed a basic visual assessment. For critical structures, the team then performed a more detailed site investigation.

The Results

Advisian reported the condition of the harbour’s assets to Council stakeholders. Areas of immediate concern were addressed, including issues around public safety. Concept repair / upgrade options were presented for critical assets. A benchmark condition assessment can then be used for future works management plans, and concept ideas can also be incorporated into the long term Inner Harbour Development Plan.
