Exclusive PhD studentship on offer with Imperial College London

Founded in 1907, the science-based Imperial College London is consistently rated as one of the world’s top university institutions.

In 2014 the College created the Data Science Institute (DSI) in response to a world where both economics and society itself have embraced the digital age. Understanding the vast amounts of data now available, also known as Big Data, is a crucial step towards better understanding the new world we live in.

WorleyParsons, along with Advisian and Digital Enterprise, are pleased to announce we are sponsoring a PhD studentship with the DSI to study the Social and Economic Impacts of Data Science. Starting in October 2017, the 3.5-year program will see the successful candidate collaborate with our teams, learning from their advanced technical know-how, along with researchers and other allied organisations at the DSI.

Data is one of the most valuable assets a company can have, but many still don’t or can’t quantify how much it is worth. Now with Big Data thrown into the mix, the importance of understanding how to use data, and its true worth to an organisation, is more important than ever. The end goal of the studentship is to develop a methodology that will assist organisations quantify information as a tangible asset on their balance sheet.
