INTECSEA Develops PIMS Methodology for SUCO

INTECSEA Develops PIMS Methodology for SUCO

The Suez Oil Company (SUCO) is currently in the process of developing and implementing a Pipeline Integrity Management System for their Disouq and Gulf of Suez (GOS) hydrocarbon fields in accordance with recommended international standards.

The Challenge

An audit that has been performed, has identified the requirement to implement an effective pipeline integrity management system (PIMS) to ensure safe and reliable operations of all the SUCO pipeline networks.

Our Approach

INTECSEA has developed a PIMS methodology to allow SUCO to improve operational performance, increase health, safety and environmental performance, and maximise the economic return from the facility by optimising the production availability and limit unplanned outage.

This Standard define specific roles and responsibilities, competency requirement of people, effective emergency response requirement and other key element of the PIMS. It also defines the integrity management process that shall be implemented to perform effective hazard identification and risk assessment, establish the physical condition of the pipelines and implement the required mitigation and repair activities to achieve safe and efficient pipeline operations.

The Results

A tailored PIM system has been developed for SUCO that is fit for purpose for the pipelines.  This process will become embedded into daily operations, enabling effective management of integrity risks, inspection, and assessment activities throughout the lifecycle of the asset.

In addition, the integrity assessment of the Disouq field provides SUCO extensive knowledge of the current fitness for service and risk level of the pipelines. This provides an instrument that enables SUCO to prioritise future inspection and monitoring activities according to a risk-based approach.
