Aligning organisational structure to the strategic objectives and work of the business while remaining sensitive to the needs of its people.

The Situation

Our client owns, develops, operates and maintains an extensive, state-wide high-voltage electricity transmission network. Following significant changes to its operating environment, including the need to strike the right balance between cost and reliability, they embarked on a program to better align its organisation with a more commercially driven business model. 

Approach

As a key part of this program, Advisian assisted with the review of the structure of major operational and services divisions or functions. 

Our approach to this work involved:

  • High levels of collaboration and stakeholder involvement

  • Applying specialist expertise and operational experience in organisational design, structure and leadership 

  • A proven, robust method for organisational review and development - this included establishing clear and visible linkages and rationale between organisational changes and the client’s strategic objectives while remaining sensitive to the challenges facing the organisation and its people and the need to bring certainty and support

Results 

All recommendations for change and improvement were adopted by the client for all reviews undertaken including the infrastructure delivery, investment and planning, human resources and corporate affairs divisions.
