Advisian performed a feasibility study for the implementation of PV power facilities on six closed coal ash ponds in Georgia.
Feasibility study for PV on coal ash ponds
At each of the study sites, we assessed the overall adequacy for PV development by evaluating solar resources at the site, coal ash and infrastructure characteristics of the ponds, existing electrical utilities, seismic classification and floodplain conditions, and the regulatory status and compliance obligations established by closure permits.
This evaluation led to the selection of three feasible configurations. For each configuration, we developed conceptual designs using established siting criteria, including general arrangement drawings, electrical single-line drawings, and site civil improvement descriptions. This preliminary engineering design was used to develop cost estimates for all three options.
