International Women's Day 2018

Press for progress at Advisian Press for progress at Advisian

International Women’s Day means different things to different people around the world. For Advisian it’s a celebration of respect, appreciation and admiration of the many fantastic achievements women have made that enrich the world in which we live. From science to engineering and the arts, or important social movements, women have been at the forefront of many incredible contributions that have changed the face of our society, but have not always been acknowledged.

We’re proud of the talented women at Advisian - many show a dedication that goes above and beyond what is expected; they are courageous, they are visionary, and all of them deserve to be recognised. International Women's Day is a great time to acknowledge the special achievements women have made in your life and embrace this years’ theme - #PressForProgress

How can we support women?

How Advisian celebrated International Women's Day 2018

Held on 8 March, International Women’s Day (IWD)is a time for us to reflect and celebrate the achievements and progress the world has made in promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. The theme for 2018, #PressforProgress, is a call for gender parity.

Advisian joined the IWD festivities by hosting a number of special events across its global offices, acknowledging the firm’s commitment to gender equality.

Festivities kicked off in our Calgary office with a week-long clothing drive for Women in Need Society, an operator of not-for-profit thrift stores. The office set up a collection point for staff to donate their unwanted, good quality, clothing and toiletries, with the items benefiting entire families.

This was followed by a breakfast event in Melbourne featuring the inspirational Susan Alberti AC. Susan, a philanthropist and businesswoman, shared her personal stories and experience on three topics she is passionate about supporting: women in business, women in sport and advancing medicine through research. Having overcome adversity to achieve great success, Susan advised the audience to: always be respectful, be tough and do it with a smile. The event was held in conjunction with WorleyParsons, ExxonMobil and UGL.

On IWD, a variety of breakfasts and luncheons were held across the Americas, Asia Pacific and EMEA, which featured internal speakers and speakers from local not-for-profit organisations.

Advisian is a proud supporter of IWD. We recognise the value and power of diversity and the benefits it brings to the business.
