We work with our clients to realize the future of an advanced industry in which data and digital transformation has brought energy, resilience and new paradigms.
Founded in 1907, the science-based Imperial College London is consistently rated as one of the world’s top university institutions. In 2014 the College created the Data Science Institute (DSI) in response to a world where both economics and society itself have embraced the digital age. Understanding the vast amounts of data now available, also known as Big Data, is a crucial step towards better understanding the new world we live in.
WorleyParsons, along with Advisian and Digital Enterprise, are pleased to announce we are sponsoring a PhD studentship with the DSI to study the Social and Economic Impacts of Data Science. Starting in October 2017, the 3.5-year program will see the successful candidate collaborate with our teams, learning from their advanced technical know-how, along with researchers and other allied organisations at the DSI.
Data is one of the most valuable assets a company can have, but many still don’t or can’t quantify how much it is worth. Now with Big Data thrown into the mix, the importance of understanding how to use data, and its true worth to an organisation, is more important than ever. The end goal of the studentship is to develop a methodology that will assist organisations quantify information as a tangible asset on their balance sheet.
Bradley Andrews, President of Digital Enterprise said “This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to lead the way in a new era of research in data science. Partnering with a prestige institution like Imperial College London, with the technical understanding provided by the WorleyParsons Group, will truly give the successful candidate the ability to make an impact on how data is valued.”
Applications are open now, and you can view details about the PhD here under the Data Science Institute listing.
