What you can expect from this panel discussion:
The panelists will provide an overview of their background with environmental regulation. The panelists include experts in environmental regulation from different jurisdictions in Canada. Their areas of specialty include emissions to air, carbon pricing, and the petrochemical industry. Our panel also includes an innovation and clean-tech incubator CEO.
The panel will field questions from the audience, including: Will carbon pricing and climate change regulation hurt Canada’s petrochemical industry? How can companies cope? What are the opportunities? How will the funds from carbon pricing be used for innovation, and help the industry transition into a carbon constrained future?
The panel’s answers and ensuing discussion will certainly be interesting and include perspectives from different sides of the country, as well as viewpoints from regulatory compliance to innovation and clean-tech commercialization. Canada’s Carbon Pricing legislation will be put in context with other global experiences and with what has happened to their petrochemical industries, as well their clean-tech industry.
The international community has highlighted climate change as an urgent and potentially irreversible threat to humans and the environment.
Ontario passed its new CarbonCap and Trade policy in correlation with the Federal government moving on the climate change policy.
With all these policies taking effect, the international community will need to work together to reduce greenhouse emissions.
